INTRODUCTION
META<>CRILL® is an injectable implant composed of micro spheres of polymethylmethacrilate with 40/60 micra of diameter. It is presented as a suspension in a chemical colloid, composed of carboximethylcelulose, and is biologically inert. It is non-absorbable, with a density of 1. META<>CRILL® is biocompatible in its physical and chemical properties, with no protein molecule, promoting definitive correction of depressions in any part of the organism.
By their diameter and lack of any irregularity on its surface, the micro spheres are not phagocytized, remaining in the site where they where placed. They induce formation of collagen tissue, elastic fibers and neovascularization.
Because of its chemical composition and biocompatibility, the suspending medium also remains where it has been placed, thus collaborating with the stability of the filling.
The correction of the defect treated by the META<>CRILL®, therefore, is obtained by the sum of the product's volume (represented by the micro spheres and the medium), together with the body reaction to the substance. According to the literature, and our own research with Wistar rats, this reaction is progressive, beginning in two weeks and prolonging for 2 months.
The utilization of the PMMA with the suspensor medium, has been clinically observed for 8 years already, being preceded by microbiological, histological and biocompatibility studies. The histological response is always the same, thus predicting the biological evolution of the implanted area.
Correction of defects with META<>CRILL® is instantaneous, not painful, definite, and has not shown any type of serious complication until this moment.
